A center-hall colonial in the Mohawk Valley

The house was built around 1817 in Schoharie, New York, in the farm country of the Mohawk Valley. It's a center-hall colonial with a Dutch-style frame of hand-hewn timbers. Those beams, cut and joined by hand more than two hundred years ago, are the same ones you'll sleep under today.

Taken down, moved, and raised again

Restoration Living took the house down, moved it to Texas, and rebuilt it at The Domain at Halbert in Waco, just down the road from the Homestead Heritage Craft Village. The new exterior is in the Southwest Territorial style. Inside, the original frame, floors, and doors were saved and put back.

Each of the four suites is named after a part of the house's home state: the Catskill, the Adirondack, the Erie Canal, and the Hudson.

The move and restoration were featured on Magnolia Network's Restoration Road with Clint Harp, in the episode "Mohawk Valley House" (season 1, episode 8, first aired August 26, 2021). Watch it on HBO Max or Apple TV, or read Restoration Living's write-up of the project.
